"Black-ish" star Marsai Martin took fans by surprise on 29 Sept. after sharing a video of her getting a mystery tattoo. The clip, which was casually posted in the middle of a photo gallery on Instagram, shows the actor lying down at a parlour — while on her phone, presumably to distract herself from the pain — while her tattoo artist works in the background.
"U got a tattoo?!?" Trevor Jackson, one of the stars of ABC's "Grown-ish" commented on the post. Others wondered what the actual design might be, asking for a tattoo reveal. Los Angeles based tattoo artist Liq then shared a close up of the ink, which was a delicate rose tattoo on the back of her arm. "Meet so many good folks tattooing, hope you're enjoying your rose," Liq captioned the photo, showing off the end result.
The final design was created using the fine line technique with subtle grey shading, looking perfectly at home on Martin's upper arm. It's unclear whether the flower holds any particular meaning to Martin, but the rose is often used to symbolizes love and passion. Previously, fans have noticed that Martin has one other tattoo as well: a tiny "6:07" on the inside of her wrist, which she has not spoken about publicly. However, it's clear that she is a minimalist at heart, and if this new design is any indication, we wouldn't be surprised to see more tiny tattoos in Martin's future.
